Creating a Quiet Corner at Home

Creating a Quiet Corner at Home

You do not need much

A quiet corner is not a meditation room. It is not a special space with special rules. It is simply a place where you can sit for five minutes without a screen.

Start with a surface

A small side table, a corner of your desk, even a shelf. It should be somewhere you pass every day but do not use for work.

Add one natural object

A stone. A crystal cluster. A small copper hulu. One thing is enough. It should be something you like looking at — not something you were told you "should" have.

Add a small ritual

A stick of incense takes twenty minutes. A cup of tea takes ten. Sitting and doing nothing takes as long as you need. The point is not the activity — the point is the pause.

Keep it simple

Do not fill the corner. One object, one light source (a lamp or a window), and maybe a book. The quieter it looks, the quieter you feel when you sit there.

It is for you

This is not for Instagram. It does not need to look a certain way. It just needs to exist — a small place in your home that is not for work, not for screens, not for anyone else.
